Is Jeep building a Wrangler Hellcat?

Jeep teases its MOAB concepts ahead of the Easter Safari

Ahead of the Easter Jeep Safari in Moab, Utah, Jeep teased a few of its custom concepts. One stood out from the rest: a highlighter-green Wrangler with “Trailcat” plastered on the side of the hood. Could this Jeep be the Wrangler Hellcat that probably shouldn’t exist? Judging by the scoop-heavy hood, it certainly looks the part.

We won’t know for sure until Jeep unveils these in Utah, and we doubt that it (or any of the concepts) will see production. But there is something exciting about a production 707-hp short-wheelbase desert jumper.

What’s Jeep got up its sleeve for next year … maybe the Trailchief?

Not to leave the rest of its product line out of the mix, Jeep is bringing a few other concepts to the show, including the also-teased “Crew Chief.” It looks eerily similar to the Chief concept that debuted at last year’s safari, though with “crew” in its name, it clearly takes a more utilitarian approach and sports four doors.

With the Hellcat’d Grand Cherokee Trackhawk confirmed, there is a sliver of hope for a high-horsepower Wrangler, but given how easy it would be to flip such a beast onto its roof, we’re not holding our breath. You can check these two concepts, and the other in tow, at the Easter Jeep Safari in Moab, Utah, later this March.
