Is Honeywell Lyric Thermostat worth the money?

Honeywell comes with the second generation of its Lyric Thermostat.

So, everyone’s question is if this new model is worth the money?

We know that the first model had some glitches, has Honeywell managed to fix these problems?

As we know, Honeywell’s first Lyric thermostat has been released in July 2014. That new model has been an answer to Nest’s famous Learning thermostat.

Nest, also known as Google’s thermostat, came with some attractive features, including Wi-Fi connectivity and a dedicated app for Android and iOS devices.

Unfortunately, Honeywell’s model didn’t work that well. The company has tried to make a tied relation between the thermostat and the user’s phone, but it was very glitchy.
For example, users had the possibility to set a radius on from their phone, and when the phone leaves the area, the thermostat can be set to automatically switch to Away mode and back to Home when that phone has been returned. Unfortunately, that feature didn’t go so well.

So, customers are hoping that these problems will disappear now that the company has released a new model. Well, they have not.

The new Honeywell Lyric Thermostat is available at the price of 250 dollars. However, this new model comes with some new features. For example, compared with the original version, where users had the possibility to set the either a quarter-mile or a 7-mile radius, this new model allows them to customize the range.

Moreover, the new thermostat comes with Apple’s HomeKit platform, meaning that users will be able to use Siri to control their thermostat both on the local Wi-Fi network and remotely.

So, customers who are willing to use the voice control assistant will be happy to find out that this new model has the ability to use Siri as an assistant. Moreover, users who have Apple TV can also use the voice control feature to set their thermostat.

So, having a voice control assistant is very comfortable, because people will set their thermostat directly from their phone or Apple TV.

But, HomeKit is not very easy to install, so users will have to read the instructions before starting this process. Customers will also have to confirm their iCloud account and ensure that they have enabled all the correct settings.

Those wanting to pair the thermostat with their Apple TV may find this to be another challenge, because getting remote access to work with the TV is not very easy.

Honeywell will have to do some changes at the installing mode, because users are not very happy to know that the installation is not as easy as it should be. Another minus is that people with Android devices won’t be able to use Honeywell’s voice assistant.

So, in the end, the new Honeywell Lyric Thermostat doesn’t come with many new features, as everyone might have expected.

Probably, a software update will be needed. The huge plus for the second-generation thermostat is adding Siri as a voice control assistant. But, the glitches that the original model had can also be found on the new model.
